At this meeting we will get to check out the newly renovated shop as well as enjoy a presentation from a guest speaker. We are not having a meeting in April so at this meeting we will also be accepting nominations for our board positions. Our elections are always held at the last meeting of the school year in May.
Tony from Drone Cadets will be joining us to present about incorporating drones into schools, and demonstrating drones and their programmed Drone Light Show.
"We will introduce the exciting world of drone light shows, demonstrating their potential as an innovative teaching tool. We'll explore the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics behind these mesmerizing displays, offering practical insights for teachers to integrate into their classrooms. By the end of the session, educators will have a clear understanding of how drone light shows can inspire students, foster creativity, and promote STEM learning and development."
The meeting will be in the (partially) newly renovated Elwood High School Shop, we will venture to the auditorium for space to fly the drones. Teachers can enter the shop through the West side of the building by the Dust Collector.

There will be a demonstration with some giveaways.
We will also be awarding this past year’s scholarship to a well deserving Longwood Grad.

12/07/23 - Our next meeting will be in West Islip at Beach Street Middle School on December 7th at 4 pm.
West Islip School District will be presenting a middle school soldering/electronics project and the corresponding curriculum at Beach Street Middle School. There will be soldering kits provided and a demonstration of instruction and curriculum for the simple project. Come and solder on a PCB to build a bug that has light-up eyes and shakes across the tabletops. Additionally, come see the middle school labs and an overview of the curriculum. Opportunity to meet and discuss the middle school curriculum and projects and see some of the exciting work that our students are completing.
In order to make sure we have enough materials, please complete the attached Google form to RSVP. Your reply is not set in stone, we are just trying to get at least a ballpark number so we can prepare.

We will be providing access to our classrooms for a tour and discussing how we are incorporating PLTW into our program, while still keeping and providing the standard Technology Education courses. Our courses range from woodworking and auto shop to robotics and Principles of Engineering college-level courses.
In addition to touring the Tech department, we will be accepting nominations for our Executive Board positions. Elected positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Some of our current Executive Board members are looking to step down from their positions so if you are interested in running and getting more involved, now is the time!

The East Meadow School District welcomes all LITEEA members and administrators to join us in unveiling our new Middle School Technology labs. Come tour our new and exciting spaces and see how we were able to turn our stone-aged classrooms into state-of-the-art labs with a limited budget. These new spaces provide students in our 7th and 8th-grade classes with exciting and engaging areas to learn while also being equipped to accommodate various after-school activities involving students from grades 6-8. While touring the labs we will also be discussing the new and advancing curriculum which is being developed to provide the best learning experience possible for all students. Come join us in checking out these multi-disciplinary and multi-functional spaces that we developed to meet the needs of our students in this ever-changing world.

The Huntington Technology department is committed to focusing on the need to better prepare students for higher education. The goal is to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful innovators in a 21st-century workforce. Teaching relevant in-demand skills that will prepare students to become innovators in an ever-evolving world is paramount, not only for the future of our students but for the future of the country. The courses available for students are C.I.M. And Woodshop. Along with these courses, students can also join the robotics club which teaches both business and STEM disciplines.

Showcase amazing new spaces with well-designed projects and curriculum to go along with the labs. Labs service grades 6 through 8. Walk through the new shops, discuss organization within the room, and explore the new technology in the space! Opportunity to meet and discuss the new middle school rooms with the teachers who designed the space! All new rooms, from floors, ceilings, and lighting to furniture, machines, and new technology! All are welcome!

At this meeting, we will tour the facilities and discuss the career training courses at Sachem North High School. Students have two options for career training in Sachem; Carpentry and Computer Repair Technician. Computer Repair Technician is taught in an engineering lab where students diagnose and repair hardware and software problems. Carpentry is taught in a dedicated lab where they build a one bedroom/one bathroom house inside.

Opportunity to hear from Small Machine Services, a local machinery repair company that does on site repairs and maintenance of wood and metal working machinery.

At this meeting we will get a tour of the Technology Department at Long Beach High school. Their labs include the following: Auto Shop, Metal Shop, Wood Shop, TV Studio, and Drafting Lab. We will discuss the programs course offerings including automotive repair, metal fabrication, machining and welding, woodworking, drafting and architecture, computer repair and programing, and TV production. They will also showcase some of their new editions including, 3d printing, laser cutting and engraving, and CNC plasma table.

South Shore Craft Brewing is owned by master brewers and Technology Education Teachers Nick and Hugh. The tasting room had opened this past October and a brand new beautifully Engineered 7 barrel system just installed. Our fellow Tech Teachers gave us a tour of the brewing process that they use, and tastings and purchases of their beer was available.
